How To Find Keywords That Make Money

Whether you want to supplement your income by making a little extra cash online or completely replace your income, there is a huge mistake that most beginners make, and it could torpedo your chances of making a cent.
The mistake is thinking that they’ve got to find an untapped niche, their own secret goldmine that they can have all to themselves. But the truth is you actually want to have competition.
Let me explain. It may sound confusing, but one thing you must remember is that in Internet marketing, you don’t get bonus points for creativity. In fact, trying too hard to come up with something clever will leave you with only a headache and an empty wallet.
The smart players see what is already working, and who is already buying what, and they find a way to carve out a piece of that pie for themselves. What would you rather do, work yourself to death to dominate a niche with no customers, or go after a proven profitable market and get much easier sales?
You want some competition, so you know that there’s actually a hungry market in your niche. Now let me expand a bit about keyword research. Google has three different types of keyword matches: broad match, phrase match, and exact match. And you need to know the difference if you want to maximize your profits.
Take the phrase “tennis shoes”, for example, and see what happens with each of the three phrase types.
1. Broad Match: This is the Google default setting. It means you put the two words “tennis shoes” into the Search box, but without quotes. This is how most people search. It brings up the most results because you get every website that has either the word “tennis” or “shoes,” either together or by themselves. So you might get tennis shoes, tennis, shoes, buy running shoes, tennis shoe photos, and so on.
2. Phrase Match: If you are targeting phrase match, then it is the same as if someone searches for the phrase with quotes around it. So using “tennis shoes” again, you’d get fewer results this time, because you’d only see pages that contain the words tennis and shoes together and in that order. But with phrase match, there can also be other words in the phrase. For instance: red tennis shoes, or buy tennis shoes online.
3. Exact Match: This type of keyword match drills down the furthest and is the most targeted, because you are only targeting people who search for the exact phrase “tennis shoes” with no other words before or after. Even though you may get less traffic using Exact Match, it will probably be more targeted traffic.
Having a little bit of laser-targeted traffic made up of buyers is a lot more profitable than a ton of totally untargeted traffic. When you’re picking a niche to sell in, you want to find one where your main keyword gets between 3000 and 30,000 monthly searches using Broad Match. It will be much easier to get on the first page of the Google results and benefit from the targeted visitors you’ll get.
